Winter Poem

Oh winter, you couldn’t wait any more!

Fall was taking too long, lingering on.

Oh winter you came in a chilly rain,

then covered us in a crust of snow.

Oh winter, couldn’t you wait a bit more?

I really like your sunflower poetry. It shows a real affinity with the natural world. I like the effect you achieved here with the repetition of ‘Oh winter…’ The appeal is strongly felt.

this sounds simple but there’s a very strong feeling echoing at many levels – the winter of existence always seems to come too soon. nicely done!

Liliana – thank you for coming by and for your comment. Both are appreciated. Winter happens inside and out…soon the aching for spring!

This is a very familiar refrain for me – no matter when winter decides to come on, it’s too soon… 🙂

Ruth – glad you stopped by and yes it is too soon for me as well. My little guy was excited for the snow though.

Here, in our little spot on the prairie, winter has missed us so far. I’ll bet it is really annoyed about that.
